Meditation for Beginners: Simple Ways To Begin Meditation

None of us is born an expert and meditation is no exception. Here are some tips for meditation beginners.
1. Don’t worry about whether or not you are meditating correctly
If you keep close to the instructions for your meditation session then there’s a high chance you’re meditating correctly. A principal focus of meditation is to help you relax. So there’s no point worrying about whether or not you’re meditating correctly! There’s an almost 100% chance that you’re fine. And even if you didn’t get something quite “right” then, well, who cares? It’s not as though you have just taken a test in front of an examiner. Chill and have some fun for a change.
2. Experiment with different meditation methods
All of us are different. Which means that not everyone will use the same meditation technique as everyone else. You may also find that if your target isn’t the same, another method could work better. Most of the time, I’ll listen to a binaural beats meditation because that’s the fastest way I’ve found to reach a deep meditation state and I have to do almost nothing. I guess you could call me lazy in that respect. But if I want to work on healing a part of my body - maybe my eyes are sore or I’ve got a headache - then I’ll use a guided meditation. And if I want to manifest abundance into my life, I’ll use a different meditation again. So don’t get stuck in a rut. Find out what suits your own personal needs.
3. Make a habit out of meditation
It’s generally thought that we need at least two weeks of regularly doing something before it becomes a habit. So if you’re serious about meditating, agree with yourself to meditate daily for at least a couple weeks. Choose a time slot where it’s unusual for you to be doing anything. Many people find that a meditation session first thing in the morning is good as the ins and outs of daily life don’t get a chance to disrupt the routine. Other people think that because they’re nicely relaxed after they’ve meditated then last thing at night is a good time to meditate.
Whichever meditation technique you choose and the time of day you choose to use it, it’s important to start! If you don’t, you definitely won’t get any benefit from meditating regularly.
