It’s natural for our eyes to become puffy after a good, hard cry, and the swelling around the eyes eventually vanishes. What annoys many, however, is waking up with puffy eyes or having that puffiness all day long. There are many eye creams for the treatment of puffy eyes that are available online at reasonable prices and many offer free shipping and handeling.
Puffy eyes are triggered by many things, but the most common of all is the retention of fluid around the eye area. When we lie down for several hours, water builds up in the tissues under the eyes. And when we get up, gravity pulls the water down to collect on the eye lids. The swelling around the eyes goes once the fluid is absorbed. Knowing the many reasons behind your puffy eyes in the morning is going to help you significantly in treating them for good.
Hormonal changes as a result of menstruation or pregnancy can lead to body fluid fluctuations and thus contribute to swelling around the eyes. Furthermore, your body is inclined to retain fluid longer when you ingest salty foods and caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, inducing puffiness around the eye area. Sometimes, water retention and puffy eyes are side effects of certain medications. Still, a bad cold with nasal congestion can be behind your puffy eyes. You may be experiencing an allergic reaction if the puffy eyes are accompanied by redness and itching. If allergies are one of the main reasons your puffy eyes appear, than you need to know which ingredients to look for and stay away from in eye creams.
You’re more apt to having puffy eyes whenever you are stressed out, burned-out or lack sleep. Even sustained wearing of contact lenses could irritate your eyes and cause swelling of the sensitive skin around your eye. As with the other parts of your body, your eyes do need rest so it can rejuvenate itself.
Some natural means to treat puffy eyes include using cold water for washing your face, restricting your consumption of salt, caffeine and alcohol, and placing two cold slices of cucumbers (or even chilled tea bags) over closed eyes for several minutes. If the eye puffiness is triggered by an allergy, know which allergen is causing it and avoid being exposed to the allergen. Better yet, ask your doctor to prescribe you a good allergy medicine. Drink plenty of water during the day but not immediately before bedtime. Sleep with your head higher than the rest of the body as this will keep the fluids from accumulating under or around your eyes, and also try to get lots of sleep.
If you do not see any improvement, however, you may want to consult a health care provider because there are times when puffy eyes can be symptomatic of serious medical conditions like thyroid problems, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
